To understand what to expect, please read through this page. You'll find information such as a map and directions to our office, payment policies and more,  You can also save some time by printing out and completing the patient forms (Health History Form, Patient Information Form, and the HIPPA form) )0)) in advance of your appointment.

Appointments
Typically your dentist will call our office to schedule your appointment.  At this time, they may provide you with an x-ray and a referral form with a map on the back.  Bring this form, any x-rays and any other paperwork to your appointment.  Your dentist may request to schedule an evaluation only or an appointment for evaluation and treatment.  We always evaluate your particular case and present our findings to you prior to treatment.  Teeth which have had root canals before (Re-Treatment) will often require a separate evaluation first.

Insurance and Billing
As a courtesy to our patients, we file all insurance at the time of service.  Most insurance plans do not cover the entire procedure, thus leaving a Copay to be paid by the patient.  We request patients pay their copay at time of service.  Please be aware that some procedures may not be covered by a patient's particular plan, or an insurance company may choose not to cover a provided service.  In these cases the patient is responsible for the entire cost of treatment.  We do not bill patients.  We are signed up with CareCredit which provides patients an excellent extended payment option.

What To Expect
We strive to make treamtent in our office as comfortable and convenient as possible.  Many patients describe contemporary root canal treatment as being no different than routine dental treatment (like a crown or filling).  Using the latest technology and protocols, we can perform root canal treatment quicker and with fewer visits than in the past.

FIrst your tooth will be evaluated which often includes an x-ray.  If a root canal is indicated, a numbing jelly is placed near the tooth, followed by local anesthetic.  The tooth is isolated by a rubber shield and treated similar to a filling, except the 'filling' extends into the roots.  No cutting of the gums is required.  Teeth with crowns (caps) or bridges are frequently treated without removing the crown or bridge.  Following treatment, a temporary filling is placed in the tooth and a follow-up appointment with the referring dentist is required within 30 days.  Antibiotics and/or pain medicine may be given if deemed necessary.  Patients often return to work or normal activitiy immedicately following a root canal.
